Solar Parasol Provides Shade and Clean Electricity Solar power is becoming more and more popular. However the problem is that solar arrays are unsightly and take up a lot of space, which has led them to be commonly put in place on rooftops. Now the Italian company Ombrellone Solare has released a product that can make solar energy much more aesthetically attractive, the Kosmos Parasol. Ombrellone Solare's design resembles a large, flat parasol which can supply shade from the sun, whilst at the same time uses organic solar cells to convert the energy from the sun into useable electricity. The idea proved really popular at the Milan Design Week where it helped deliver the public with a respite from the suns glare, whilst at the same time offering an outlet for people to charge their mobile phones and laptops. |
