Fire Department Responses: Rescuers Free Trapped Drivers in 2 Incidents

Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 382 calls the week of March 22-28: 305 emergency medical aid calls, 23 motor vehicle collisions, 21 fires, seven service calls, two natural gas leaks, two hazardous materials responses and 22 automatic fire alarms. Firefighters transported one patient to Harborview Medical Center and one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital. The fire was contained to a sawdust extraction system in the woodshop building. , firefighters responded to a report of a fire in the woodshop at Glacier Peak High School east of Mill Creek. The shop was evacuated.   irefighters checked the system to guarantee there weren't any embers left in the duct system or the sawdust collection barrels. The driver and a passenger were trapped in the car and were rescued by firefighters.

COLLISION: At 12:48 a. There were no reports of injuries. , a car went off the road and struck a tree in the 8000 block of Olympic View Drive in Edmonds. Firefighters rapidly extinguished the fire before it could cause any property damage or injuries. , a sprinkler head was accidentally damaged at Glacier Peak High School and more than 100 gallons of water flowed onto the floor of the upper gymnasium.

BRUSH FIRE: At 6:08 p. , flames from a barbecue ignited bushes and spread to a tree near a building in the 22800 block of Lakeview Drive in Mountlake Terrace. Firefighters assisted with the cleanup.
