Davidson GM Super Center Opens with Solar Panels, 'Green Initiative'

Davidson Auto Group says its General Motors customers will have a larger variety of vehicles from which to choose and enhanced customer service inside the dealership's newest "green" building at 18579 Route 11, outer Washington Street.

The GM Super Center has taken many of its "green" traits from its neighboring Davidson Ford dealership at 18621 Route 11, carried out in February, for which construction specifications had also called for further energy efficiency.

"We've got natural light coming in from all of the locations so that reduces the number of lights we need in the facility and in our Ford building, during the day, we don't even turn our showroom lights on," he said. In an attempt to shy away from plastics, Mr.

"The move has been seamless so far and, of course, just moving the cars is the easy part," he said.

"By morning we'll be all cleaned up, prepared to go and doors will be opened," Mr.

The automotive group's spokesman said the contractor moved efficiently to finish construction in the same manner in which Davidson Ford was built.

Just off of the showroom and front reception area is an enclosed, two-bay room in which customers may comfortably inspect vehicles during winter moths or in times of inclement weather.

"We can literally walk around the car indoors with them," Mr.

"Both the Ford building and the GM Building, from the day the steel hit the ground, it was exactly four months from when we put it up and moved in," he said.
