Twelve of Fifteen Houses in Parade of Homes Sold in First Weekend

Trey Strong, 2012 president of the West Texas Home Builders Association, said the Lubbock Parade of Homes is an event organized by the group to allow local builders and suppliers to showcase their products.

"We had 24 last year.

He estimated slightly more than 1,000 visitors during the first two days.

He said participating in the parade is much more work than building a normal house. ".

Although official numbers were unavailable Monday, Hawkins said opening weekend attendance was slightly lower than past years, but the percentage of houses purchased was higher than usual.

"Lubbock is a conservative area, so the Home Builders Association is conservative in turn, but it doesn't mean it is less enjoyable, it means we have fewer homes," she explained.
