Keep garage doors shut, thirsty thieves lurk

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office has noticed a recent increase in burglaries and thefts where items including beer and soft drinks are increasingly being stolen from refrigerators inside garages.

Keep garage doors closed anytime you are not in them.

If you hear a neighbors alarm, car or house sounding, call 911 immediately.

If you have strangers (workers, repairmen) in your property hide all your jewelry and other valuables.

Have an exterior alarm siren, so that your neighbors will hear your alarm if it goes off.

If you have a safe, good idea, secure to floor or wall and make sure it is hidden or completely out of sight

Keep a list of serial numbers and take pictures of your jewelry and other valuables and keep that list locked up

Regularly go through your residence and make sure all your doors and windows are locked

Also, be very observant of any suspicious or criminal activity in and or around your subdivision.

Do not post your day to day life on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites.

Make sure your alarm firm has current contact details.

If you see any suspicious activity, please call 911.
